Automation

Workflow AutomationThe Handoffs That Don't Drop the Ball.

Workflow automation for the handoffs between teams and systems — the routing, the approvals, the escalations, the data movement, with the audit trail and the exception handling that make the workflow safe to run in production at the volume the business needs.

Overview

A workflow is a contract between teams

A workflow is a contract between teams: "if X happens, then Y does it, with Z reviewing". The work is the contract — the steps, the approvals, the escalations, the exception handling, the audit trail. The tool is the engine, the contract is the product.

We build workflow automations with the contract, the tool, the integration, the exception handling and the audit trail as part of the architecture from sprint one. The output is a workflow the team can trust at the volume the business needs, not a Zap that fires twice.

This is the wrong engagement if the workflow is genuinely simple (a Zapier) or if the team is not yet aligned on the contract. We will say so on the call.

  • Contract Engineering — The contract designed, modelled and versioned, not a Zap that fires twice.
  • Audit Trail — Every step logged with the user, the inputs, the outputs and the timestamp.
  • Exception Handling — The exception path, the human approval and the recovery the contract needs.
  • Monitored — The dashboards, the alerts and the metrics the operations team can act on.

What we deliver

Everything included in our workflow automation

Workflow Discovery

A written map of the handoff, the steps, the approvals and the exception cases.

Contract Design

The steps, the approvals, the escalations and the exception handling on paper.

Tooling & Build

n8n, Make, Camunda, Temporal or a custom workflow — the tool against the contract.

Team & System Integration

The integration with the team's tools (Slack, Email) and the systems the contract lives in.

Audit & Exception

The audit trail, the exception path and the human approval the contract needs.

Operate & Improve

A monthly review, the metrics and the next workflow to automate.

Our process

A proven process for successful delivery

  1. 01

    Discover

We map the handoff, the steps, the approvals and the exception cases.

  2. 02

    Plan & Design

We design the contract, the tool, the integration and the exception path.

  3. 03

    Develop

We build the workflow, the integration and the audit trail in sprints.

  4. 04

    Deploy

We ship to production with the monitoring, the exception path and the runbook live.

  5. 05

    Optimize & Grow

We read the metrics, the exceptions and the team feedback, and ship the next workflow.

BPA is the broader practice — the full operation. Workflow automation is the handoff between teams and systems. The two overlap, and the right answer depends on the scope. We will say so on the call, with a written scope for the work.

It depends on the workflow. For a simple two-step handoff, n8n or Make. For a complex multi-step workflow with approvals and exceptions, Camunda or Temporal. For a data pipeline, Airflow. The tool is part of the discovery, not assumed.

The exception path is part of the architecture. The workflow handles the happy path, escalates the exception to a human with the context the human needs, and logs the outcome. The exception is the most important part of the workflow, because that is where the handoff usually breaks down.

Yes, when the judgment is well-defined (categorise, score, route) and the eval suite proves the AI is right. For judgment that is genuinely novel, the human stays in the loop. The AI is part of the workflow, not a replacement for the human in the cases that matter.
