1. Project Overview
A small pathology lab handles billing, sample collection, result entry, doctor sign-off and report delivery, often with three people and one computer. Reports go out on paper or as photos on WhatsApp, and referring doctors ask for their commission statements every month.
NidaanLab runs the whole day in one system. Each lab signs up as its own tenant with a 14-day trial. Over time it grew to cover the OPD, radiology and IPD needs of a small diagnostic centre too.

2. The Challenge
- Samples that must be tracked from collection to result without mix-ups.
- Results outside the normal range that need to stand out before sign-off.
- Patients who want reports on their phone, and doctors who want to verify them.
- Referral doctor commissions worked out by hand.
- Labs that also run OPD, radiology or a few beds.
3. What We Built
- Billing with GST, discounts, test packages and cash, UPI, card or credit payment, with due collection.
- Barcode sample tracking and result entry with automatic flagging against reference ranges.
- Report approval and a printable report in the NABL style with up to three signatories, a QR code for verification and a WhatsApp share link.
- Referral doctors with a commission report, and patient profiles with history.
- An analytics dashboard with turnaround-time gauges.
- Inventory, attendance, payroll and expenses with profit and loss.
- OPD with vitals and prescriptions, radiology for USG, X-ray, ECHO, ECG and CT, IPD with a bed board, and appointments.
- Patient and doctor portals, plus a super-admin panel with plans.
- Self-serve signup with a 14-day trial, and a marketing website for the product.
4. How It Works
Laravel 12 with Sanctum serves the API, and the web app runs on Next.js 16 with TypeScript and Tailwind v4. Each lab’s data sits in its own tenant. Dashboard charts are plain SVG with no chart library.
Every report carries a QR code that opens a verification page, so a doctor or insurer can confirm it came from the lab. A Flutter app for Android lets patients sign in and open their reports.
Plans run from a free trial to ₹999 a month or ₹9,999 a year.
5. The Outcome
NidaanLab first went live on 14 June 2026 and moved to its own subdomains on 20 June. It now covers a small lab’s full working day: billing counter, sample, result, sign-off and the report on the patient’s phone.
The web app grew from 13 screens at launch to 28, adding OPD, radiology, IPD, appointments and the two portals. The Android patient app ships as an APK.
