What each QR type does

A website link opens the page in the phone browser. If you leave out https:// the tool adds it, so phones treat it as a link.

A UPI payment code opens the payer’s UPI app with your UPI ID and name already filled in. Add an amount when everyone pays the same fixed fee, and leave it blank at a counter where the bill changes. Every value is encoded the way UPI apps expect, so an & in the shop name does not break the code.

A WhatsApp code opens a chat with your number and can fill in a first message, such as "Hi, I saw your poster". Only the digits of the number are used, so type it with the country code: 91 for India, then the ten-digit mobile number.

A contact card code holds your name, company, phone, email and address. Scanning it offers to save you as a new contact. A Wi-Fi code lets guests join your network without typing the password; special characters in the network name or password are escaped so the phone reads them correctly.

Email and phone codes open a new email or the dialler with your details filled in, and plain text shows the text on the screen.

Static codes: what they can and cannot do

The codes made here are static. The link, UPI ID or text is stored inside the pattern itself, so the code works without our servers and does not expire. The trade-off is that you cannot change where a printed code points, and nobody, including us, can count how many times it was scanned.

If you need to change the destination after printing, or you want scan counts, you need a dynamic QR code, which points to a short link that can be edited later. That service is not part of this free tool.

Size, colour and error correction for print

For a counter standee read from about a metre away, print the code at least 3 cm wide; a visiting card needs at least 2 cm. Codes that hold more data, such as a full contact card, have smaller squares, so print them bigger.

Keep the code dark and the background light. Phones read dark-on-light codes most reliably; the tool warns you when the two colours are too close or when the code is lighter than its background. Leave the white border around the code in place when you place it in a design.

Error correction adds spare data so a code still scans when part of it is scratched, folded or covered by a small logo. Medium suits most uses. Choose High for packaging or outdoor codes, and Low for the simplest pattern when the text is long.

Putting a payment QR on every bill

With one shop QR, the customer still types the amount. Billing software can print a UPI code on each invoice with that bill’s exact amount, so payments match invoices.
