1. Project Overview

A local grocery delivery business needs more than a storefront. It needs sellers who manage their own stock, delivery slots that do not overbook, riders who can be tracked, and offers that bring customers back.

FreshBazaar covers all four sides of the market: customers, sellers, riders and the admin. The quick-commerce layout puts categories, deals and an always-visible cart up front, and every order can be followed on a live map once a rider picks it up.

2. The Challenge

  • Products sold by kg, gram, litre, dozen and pack, with MRP and selling price.
  • Delivery slots and zones with their own fee, minimum order and free-delivery limit.
  • Several sellers in one cart, each with their own orders and payouts.
  • Riders who collect cash on delivery and need their earnings tracked.
  • Repeat customers who expect wallets, points and referral rewards.

3. What We Built

  • Storefront with category tiles, deal rails, search, product pages with reviews and a cart drawer with free-delivery progress.
  • Checkout with address, delivery slot, coupon, tip, wallet and cash on delivery or online payment.
  • Seller dashboard with products, orders, earnings after commission and payout requests.
  • Rider panel and a Flutter rider app: go online, accept packed orders, mark picked up and delivered, with GPS location sent every 20 seconds.
  • Order tracking with a five-step timeline and a live map of the rider.
  • Wallet, loyalty points, referral codes and timed flash sales.
  • Admin control over products, categories, orders, slots, zones, riders, sellers, banners, coupons and payouts.

4. How It Works

A Laravel 12 API with signed-token auth serves a Next.js 16 storefront and two Flutter apps, one for customers and one for riders. The web storefront installs as a PWA. The live map uses Leaflet with OpenStreetMap tiles, so no paid map key is needed.

Zones drive the money rules at checkout: minimum order, delivery fee and free-delivery threshold. A wallet service records every credit and debit with the balance after it, so a customer can pay part of an order from the wallet and the rest by cash or online.

When a rider marks an order delivered, the system credits the rider’s earning, records the cash collected, and adds loyalty points to the customer in one step.

5. The Outcome

The FreshBazaar web storefront went live on 9 July 2026 over HTTPS, with the admin, seller and rider panels on the same domain. The full delivery loop was tested end to end through the API: a cash order went from placed to packed, accepted by a rider, picked up and delivered, with the rider’s earning, the cash collected and the customer’s points all updated.

The customer and rider Flutter apps are built as Android APKs and point at the same API.
